Changing Oil – Why it is important?
Owning a car means not only ensuring its safety but also maintaining it to extend its lifespan. Regular oil changes are a fundamental part of vehicle care and maintenance. The only exception is electric cars, which don’t require oil changes. Regular oil changes help keep your engine running smoothly, prevent wear, and improve fuel efficiency. By changing your oil on a consistent basis, you can:
• Prevent metal friction of parts and components.
• Ensure a perfect compression of the engine.
• Evacuate the impurities to deposit them in the oil filter.
• Cool the engine.
• Prevent premature wear of engine components.
• Detect some possible anomalies.
• Ensure safe driving.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE YOUR OIL?
If the “oil pressure” light on your dashboard comes on, it’s time to check your engine’s oil level. The recommended oil change interval depends on several factors, including your vehicle’s make and model, age, mileage since the last oil change, engine type (diesel, gasoline, etc.), and driving style (e.g., sports car, passenger car). Generally, the older your vehicle, the more frequently it will need an oil change.
– VEHICLES RELEASED AFTER 1999: It should be done every 15,000 kilometres for petrol and diesel engines.
– ALL VEHICLES RELEASED BEFORE:
1994 for a gasoline engine and 1995 for a diesel engine must be drained every 7,500 kilometres. Moreover, don’t forget to also change the oil filter at each oil change and at least every 30,000 kilometres.
